Congratulations to U10 and U14 for qualifying for the WAHA State Tournament. Both teams won their playoff bracket and will represent Region 4. Good luck!!

Ice Spirit Teams have Success at Coulee Classic

All three Ice Spirit teams competed in the Coulee Classic Tournament held January 19th and 20th at the Omni Center in Onalaska. It was great to have all teams together at the same hotel and tournament. It was a great team bonding experience for the girls and parents. They enjoyed time together in the pool, in the hotel, and pizza party on Saturday night.

U10 dominated their bracket and took first place winning all three games. No opponents scored on the team with the defense allowing only 15 total shots. Ellie played goalie and earned a shut out. The offense was very balanced too with 6 different girls scoring goals. Brynn, Josie, and Hannah all had hatricks.

U14 took second place in their bracket. The team fell victim to a last second tap in goal by their opponent to earn a tie in their first game which ended up being the difference between a 1st place finish. After a loss in their second game the team earned the maximum possible points in their last game with a shutout and scoring goals in each period. Erin played solid in goal all weekend and earned a shutout. Coach Joe said of the weekend; “We learned that we can out play a team, and still not win. We can be dominated in a first period, and still get back into a game. I told the girls that the only thing we know for sure is that the team that scores more goals, wins the game”.

U12 was placed in the tougher bracket and lost their first two games to more experienced teams. The defense played hard and kept the scoring to a minimum however. In their last game they came from behind scoring 4 goals in the last two periods to win the game and end the tournament on a high note. The offense was balanced with all goals by different players. Gwen played solid in goal as usual and earned the respect of the other teams.

Good luck to all teams in the Region playoffs.

Go Spirit!

WAHA Concussion Awareness Requirement

The Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association is requiring all Youth hockey clubs comply with a new state law regarding concussion and head injury.

To be in compliance with the new law, all Ice Spirit parents, skaters and coaches will need to review the attached fact sheets and take the time to learn the importance of recognizing and responding to the signs and symptoms of concussion or head injury.

Find the WAHA fact sheets and acknowledgement form under the Documents tab above.

After reviewing these materials, parents, skaters and coaches should print, sign and date the appropriate Agreement and return these to their respective team manager.

The Parent & Athlete Agreement MUST be signed before your child will be allowed to participate in regular season games.
